Let’s be real, planning your incredible wedding day can feel a little overwhelming.
If you throw in working a full-time job, potentially some kiddos, and some other hobbies – It might feel like there’s not enough hours in the day to start working through your ever-growing to-do list!
I’ve been there planning my own wedding – So, I’m here to drop a few handy tips that will help keep you on track, without stressing you out!
Once you have your venue/date locked in, it can be so easy to take your foot off the pedal “We’ve got plenty of time! 18 months, happy days!”This might be the case, meanwhile your favourite photographers, videographers or celebrants also book out that far in advance! The last thing you want to hear is that someone you had your heart set on is already booked. So, as soon as you have your date locked in – Start to assemble that dream team for your day!!
It is never too early to start. The best thing you can is set yourself a little timeline of things you know you need to organise. Start from the top and just work your way from the top to the bottom – it will build up over time, but you feel so relieved knowing you’re organised and of top of everything! Find yourself some incredible wedding planning stationary – because we all know it’s gotta look the part or it doesn’t count!
Set aside some time each week to spend together to talk it all out – preferably not during a football game!! Taking the time for yourselves will allow you to chat about things in depth and get to know what each of you envision and how each of you are going with the booking side of things.
One of the best things you can do is get to know your vendors. Explain to them your crazy lifestyle and the best ways to communicate with you – are you best on email, a quick afternoon phone call or few texts throughout the week?
If you get the opportunity to meet in person it may be the best thing you possibly do – grab a quick coffee during your break and chat about all the details. You will be so surprised at how much you can sort out with just one catch up opposed to fifty emails, especially when coffee is involved!
It is okay to let go of the little things. Just because you didn’t have enough time to hand-make the honey bonbonnieres or take the calligraphy class to free hand the ‘Welcome’ sign yourself doesn’t mean your wedding will be any less beautiful. Keeping it simple is the key to success, just add in the parts that reflect your individual love and voila!
All the very best with your planning! If you ever need a chat or some advice, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
